Angela is a wife and a mother of four children. She is a Certified Addiction Specialist (CAS), National Certified Addiction Counselor II (NCAC II) and college graduate from Grand Canyon University with a background in Social Work, Nutrition, and BS Psychology. Angela is the supervisor and consultant of this culturally competent treatment agency. She has been in the service field for 20 years and a counselor for 15+ years. Angela is passionate about nutrition and health and believes there are healthy and fun alternatives to drinking and drug use. She founded A Good Life Counseling in 2011.

Eric Lopez, Counselor

Eric Lopez

Counselor, Former Marine, Seeds of Hope Support Group Facilitator and Founder

Eric is a former United States Marine of eight years. Through his military career and overseas deployments, Eric developed a passion for helping people as much as he could in any way possible. Eric has been a part of the agency since 2012 doing classes and the free support group offered by A Good Life. Eric has volunteered for numerous organizations throughout that time such as youth leader for Second Chance through Faith Youth Ministries, and the Marion House, and he is an active member in the community. Eric is very relatable as a counselor and always willing to help.

Shaelyn is a mother of two children. She enjoys meeting new people and has a heart for helping people. She spent a month in Oregon as an intern for CASA which is an organization that advocates in court for children. Shaelyn's goal is to get a Masters degree in counseling.

Balvina Rios, Counselor

Balvina's daily living is founded on her core belief in humanity, compassion, doing no harm to others, and extending a helping hand to anyone in need. It is this core belief that has led her into humanitarian help aid to countries in devastation. In 2018, Balvina was on the ground helping victims of the Volcan de fuego (Volcano of Fire) that erupted near Antigua Guatemala, leaving thousands of dead. In 2018 she also coordinated assistance to farmers in Urubamba, Peru with financial assistance from various UCCS departments. As president of the Omega Tau Sigma Delta Pi Hispanic Honor Society, she also secured funding from local businesses. Collectively the honor society assisted local farmers in Urubamba, collected over 250 lbs of clothing for locals, and assisted in building stalls for better presentation of the local farmers organic vegetables to safekeep their good way of life.

Erin was born and raised in Colorado Springs. She is a wife and mother to four daughters. She is currently a stay-at-home mom and is our behind-the-scenes administrative assistant. Erin loves meeting new people and likes helping out any way she can. Her hobbies are spending time with her family and shopping. Interests: Real estate and hopes to one day pursue that dream.
