You May Need: DUI Education

For first-time offenders, courts and the DMV typically require DUI education. The exact level (Level I or Level II) and any additional therapy requirements will be determined by the courts, DMV, or probation based on your specific circumstances.

Note: The DMV almost always requires at least Level II education for license reinstatement, and courts rarely recommend Level I education alone.

You May Need: DUI Level II Education & Therapy

For repeat offenders, courts and the DMV typically require DUI Level II Education followed by Level II Therapy. The specific therapy track will be determined by the courts, DMV, or probation based on your BAC level, prior offenses, and other factors.

Note: We can only provide general information about typical requirements. Your specific requirements will be determined by legal authorities.

Level II 4+ DUI Classes Required

For individuals with four or more DUIs, the courts and DMV typically require Level II 4+ Education and Therapy classes. Important Notice: A Good Life Counseling is not licensed to provide Level II 4+ DUI classes.

DUI Education and Therapy Programs

Our DUI programs are licensed by the Colorado Behavioral Health Administration and approved by the Colorado DMV.

Important Note: We do not determine which level or track you must complete. This is decided by the courts, DMV, or probation based on various factors including prior offenses, BAC level, and other circumstances. The information below describes what is typically required but your specific court order or DMV requirements will determine your exact needs.

Level I Education

Level I education typically consists of three 4-hour sessions that must be completed over a minimum of 3 weeks (one session per week for a total of 12 hours). These are conducted in a group setting online via our secure telehealth platform.

1
Three 4-hour sessions (12 hours total)
2
One session per week over 3 weeks minimum
3
Online telehealth format
!
Note: The DMV rarely accepts Level I education for license reinstatement and typically requires at least Level II education. Courts also rarely recommend Level I alone.

Level II Education

Level II Education consists of 24 hours of DUI education over 12 weeks. Classes are conducted online in a group setting, with class size limited to no more than 12 regularly attending participants. Level II Education can be required by itself or may be followed by Level II Therapy.

1
24 hours of education over 12 weeks
2
Small group format (12 people maximum)
3
Available online
4
Court & DMV approved

Level II Therapy

Level II Therapy follows Level II Education and can range in length from 5 to 10 months depending on the track assigned. Track assignment is determined by the alcohol evaluator, probation, courts, or DMV based on whether a person has prior impaired driving offenses, their BAC, and other clinical indicators.

Important Note: We are not licensed to provide Level II 4+ DUI classes. If you have four or more DUIs, you will likely be required to attend "Level II 4+" treatment, and you will need to find another provider for this service. Please contact your probation officer or the Colorado Division of Behavioral Health for a list of approved Level II 4+ providers.
The following information is provided as a general guideline of what is typically assigned. Your actual track requirements will be determined by the courts, DMV, or probation, not by A Good Life Counseling.
Typical Track Guidelines:
Track A
42 hours over 21 weeks, first time offender with a BAC below .15
Track B
52 hours over 26 weeks, first time offender with a BAC of .15 or above
Track C
68 hours over 34 weeks, prior DWAI/DUI, with a BAC below .15
Track D
86 hours over 43 weeks, prior DWAI/DUI, with a BAC of .15 or above
!
Important: Education and therapy classes cannot be taken at the same time. Education must be completed first, followed by therapy if required. Only one class can be completed per week for Level II education and therapy.

What is A Good Life Counseling? ▼

We are a counseling agency located and licensed in Colorado by the Behavioral Health Administration. We specialize in DUI classes and also offer more counseling services which can be found throughout our website.

What DUI classes do you offer? ▼

We specialize in court-ordered DUI classes and are licensed to provide Level I and Level II education and therapy classes. We also offer classes for Relapse Prevention, Cognitive Skills, Victim Empathy, Chemical Dependency, Anger Management, and more.

Important Note: We are not licensed to provide Level II 4+ DUI classes, which are typically required for individuals with four or more DUIs. If you have four or more DUIs, you will need to contact another provider for these services.

What is the difference between Level I and Level II education? ▼

Level I education is one 4-hour session per week for 3 weeks, totaling 12 hours. Level II education is 2 hours once a week for 12 weeks, totaling 24 hours. Only one class is allowed per week per Colorado court and DMV regulations.

A sentence order will say how many hours of education is required. Level II education classes will usually count towards Level I education, but Level I education does not count towards Level II education.

Also, the DMV very rarely accepts Level I classes and will usually require Level II classes. The DMV and the courts can have different requirements from each other. Make sure you know your requirements for each.

Can I do my education and therapy classes at the same time? ▼

No. Education and therapy classes cannot be taken at the same time. Education must be completed first, followed by therapy if both are required. Only one class can be completed per week for Level II education and therapy. Each Level II class consists of two hour sessions.

Are your classes in-person or can they be done online? ▼

All our classes are available online through our secure telehealth platform. We offer flexible scheduling to accommodate your needs. Please check our class schedules on our website for the most up-to-date information, or contact us directly.

What if I got my DUI in Colorado but I live in a different state? ▼

We are not currently licensed to provide DUI classes for residents outside of Colorado. You must have a Colorado residence to complete any DUI classes with us.

What are the costs for doing DUI classes with A Good Life Counseling? ▼

In summary (prices not including missed classes, UAs, credit card fees, etc.):

  • Intake fee: $50 (One time)
  • Books: Prices vary (We have books available in stock)

Our prices are subject to change. The best way to get our current pricing is to contact us directly. We may offer discounts if multiple classes are paid for at once, usually 10% off.

Testing is typically available Monday-Friday, 8:30am-3:00pm. Call ahead to ensure staff availability. If we're unavailable, you may use another facility like Urban Labs and have them send us the results. All tests require at least a 7-panel test with ETG.
